In this section, Denis Pugh makes an introduction and presents you a scenario wherein two different balls are in the rough with different lies. Different lies require different technique.
In this section, Denis Pugh discusses about hitting a ball that is sitting on top of the grass. What you should here is to sweep the ball with a very shallow arc coming into the back of the ball to pop the ball high and stop it quickly. The proper technique to do this is to place the ball at the middle of your stance and your weight evenly distributed in both legs. The swing back is in the change in feeling and it feels like although the club is setting, do not do it actively with the wrist and as you swing through do not also actively rehinge your wrist.
In this section, Denis Pugh talks about hitting a ball that is down into the rough and buried deep within the grass. To get the ball out, address the ball with an open club face and make sure that your weight is a little more on the left side and pick the club up very steeply and chop down into the ball without much follow through. There us much wrist action on the backswing until hitting the ball on impact.
