In this section, Denis Pugh makes an introduction and presents a scenario of hitting the ball 20 yards away from the front edge. This is a gray area where chipping merges with the pitching action. When you chip the ball in this area it will most probably run away from you and you will start to feel like you are loosing control with the ball.
In this section, Denis Pugh will teach you how pitch the ball when you are hitting 20 yards away from the front edge using a 58 degrees loft wedge. Address the ball and position it in the middle of your stance, swing the club head above your hands in the back swing and release it with speed into the follow through. The set up in pitching is the same as when chipping except that the feet are a bit farther apart from each other. When you are chipping you should not feel any wrist action while in pitching you definitely have to engage in some wrist action.
