Darrell Klassen explains that practicing putting from the same distance all the time will cause shots from other distance to fail and not give you a good feel for the ball.
Darrell's philosophy is never practice from the same distance twice in a row. To practice this place a series of 6 balls in a line away from the hole to about 3 feet. Starting at the ball closest to the hole, aim to hit every shot into the hole, don't stress if you miss one, this drill will help you with a variety of putts and help understand the break of the green better.
Once you feel confident at 3 feet, increase the distance or add more golf balls
Ensure that you practice with the balls close the hole, which will help improve confidence and avoid silly mistakes during a game. Once you feel more confident, remember to move out and try different angles to get uses to breaks in the green.
