In this section, Denis Pugh makes an introduction about controlling the ball’s shape and trajectory. When it comes to shaping shot using a wedge it is a different set of principles to what you are using with your longer clubs because you cannot shape a wedge with fade and draw as easily as you can with a driver. You can instead change the shape of the trajectory and you can hit low and high wedges. The lower shots are going to come in with a little bit of back spin while the higher shots will come in soft and will land on the first or second bounce.
In this section, Denis Pugh will demonstrate how to make a low wedge shot by putting a little bit of weight on the left foot and using a slightly vertical action on the backswing while keeping the center of the chest aimed on top of or in front of the golf ball.
In this section, Denis Pugh will demonstrate how to make a high wedge shot by shifting a little weight to the right leg with the golf face very open when addressing the ball and the chest aimed behind the golf ball.
