Baseball Swing Drill
David explains the issues with vertical nature of the golf swing, and that if golf was to played on a horizontal plane that many would be far better off.
To do this drill, Swing the club only on a horizontal plane as if you were playing baseball, repeat until you start to have a feel for the swing. You should hear a woossh sound in front of you, just inline with your left shoulder as the club head rolls. As you become more comfortable starting tilting the swing to a normal golf plane, gradually your swing will be that of a golf swing.
The second part of this drill starts by taking a 5 iron and setting up like normal. Then begin with the baseball swing, gradually tilting the swing plane. Once you reach the normal golf plane, take your shot. You should now have the feeling of a good release and swing path.
